The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black

"In the woods is a glass coffin. It rests on the ground, and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives..."

In the land of Faifold, Hazel and her brother Ben are humans who live alongside the faeries. Tourists visit Faifold from far and wide to see the faeries do their magic. More than anything, the tourists love to come and visit the boy with the horns. They don't realise the danger that lurks in the forest.

Hazel and Ben have their own story that they've made up about the boy with the horns. They believe him to be a prince and they are his courageous knights. Hazel and Ben believe that the boy will never wake up...until one day he does.

Review:
"The Darkest Park of the Forest, a wickedly entertaining mash-up of genre conventions and enthusiastic subversions in which the perennial adolescent desire to be seen as normal takes on a whole new meaning." The New York Times.
