On what seems like an ordinary night in New York City, teenager Clary Fray learns that she is a descendant of the Shadowhunters. Shadowhunters are a mix of angels and warriors who protect humanity from the evil forces that lurk below. The night her mother disappears, Clary has to join forces with the Shadowhunters and travels to the new world of Downworld. Downworld isn't what it seems it is an alternate universe where evil spirits live alongside demons and vampires. Clary and her new friends must find an ancient cup which holds the mystery to her Mother's disappearance.
